Fall Fair at Old Port Montreal
A colorful night at the Fall Fair in Old Port Montreal (Oct 18, 2025). From neon-lit rides and carnival games to beignet poutine and family moments, I captured the energy of the fair SOOC with my Fujifilm X100VI + black mist filter. A mix of lights, shadows, and memories frozen in time.

It wasn’t too cold that evening, the kind of autumn night in Montreal where you can walk comfortably without rushing for warmth. Our original plan was to park at the metro in Laval and ride down to the Old Port, but with no parking available, we decided instead to drive straight to the fairgrounds. It turned out to be the perfect choice—everything felt alive the moment we arrived.

The Fall Fair at Old Port was buzzing with lights, colors, and the hum of rides cutting through the night. The kids headed straight for the Sea Dragon, while I wandered around with my Fujifilm X100VI, fitted with a black mist filter. Shooting straight out of camera, I wanted to capture the glow of neon rides, the blur of movement, and the soft haze around the bright lights.
We ate beignet poutine and hotdogs, classic fair food that somehow tastes better when you’re surrounded by music and laughter. At the shooting booth, I managed to win a small prize—nothing big, but enough to remind me of childhood fairs and the thrill of hitting a target under carnival lights.

The rides lit up the night sky in every shade—green, red, yellow—and shadows fell across faces, food stalls, and game booths. From stuffed animals hanging overhead to the glowing lines of roller rides slicing the darkness, it was a playground for both kids and photographers.
There’s something special about nights like this: the mix of family, food, and fleeting moments frozen in light. For me, photography has always been about memory and feeling, and this fair was full of both.
