Not a Freaky Friday

Captured with Fujifilm X20 Halloween Friday didn’t feel like Halloween at all. No costumes, no chaos — just rain, reflections, and the quiet rhythm of downtown Montreal at night.

We went out for dinner at Haidilao, and as usual, I brought my Fujifilm X20 along. What started as a casual night out turned into another unexpected photo walk — the kind where the city gives you more than you expect.

Through the rain-streaked glass and metal fences, I saw fragments of contrast: people behind windows, street lights caught in puddles, and advertisements glowing behind barriers. Everything looked divided — luxury behind screens, people behind reflections — but somehow, it all made sense together.

This set isn’t about Halloween. It’s about how ordinary nights can look cinematic, even melancholic, when you slow down and notice the details. The soft glow of headlights, the geometry of fences, the small gestures between strangers — each frame becomes its own story.

What I love about the Fujifilm X20 is how it captures these moments effortlessly. Its compact size lets me move quietly, without interrupting the rhythm of the street. Every shot feels raw, unplanned, and alive.

Sometimes photography is just that — being there, in the in-between.

Between rain and light. Between strangers and glass. Between noise and silence.
