A New Beginning in Montréal
This feels more personal and reflective while capturing the experience of starting a new chapter in Canada.
During those first months, almost everything felt new. I explored downtown Montréal, walked through unfamiliar neighbourhoods, visited local shops, and photographed simple moments that caught my attention. The city was full of contrasts—historic buildings and modern towers, bright lights and quiet streets, vivid colours and scenes that seemed made for black-and-white photography.
Then came winter. Seeing the streets covered in snow was beautiful, but adjusting to the cold was a completely different experience. Even ordinary activities—looking through the window, walking outside, or watching people cross a snowy park—felt unfamiliar and worth remembering.
My camera helped me make sense of this new environment. Photography gave me a reason to slow down, observe, and find something interesting in everyday life. Family moments, city views, nighttime walks, changing skies, and small discoveries became part of the story of our new beginning.
These photographs are more than images of Montréal. They remind me of what it felt like to arrive somewhere new—to feel curious and uncertain, to adapt little by little, and to begin building a life in a place that would gradually become home.
